At Medhaniealem EGCC, we are a welcoming community of Eritrean Catholics in the DMV, dedicated to the traditions of the Geez rite. Our mission is to provide a spiritual home for families to worship, celebrate our cultural heritage, and deepen our relationship with Christ through prayer and service. Together, we strive to share God’s love and support one another on our spiritual journeys.
Our Founding
Medhaniealem Eritrean Geez Catholic Community was founded to provide Eritrean Catholics in the diaspora a spiritual home rooted in the ancient traditions of the Geez Rite. Established by a small group of faithful believers, the church was born out of the need to preserve and celebrate our unique liturgical heritage while fostering a deep sense of community. From humble beginnings, our church has grown into a vibrant congregation, united by faith and a shared commitment to serving God and one another. Our founding vision continues to guide us as we move forward, grounded in our faith and traditions.
